Bloods Triumph at the SARFL Grand Final
The Bloods overcame a stormy last quarter to defeat the Sharks 9.12.66-7.11.53. It was a keenly contested Grand Final at Duddingston with all the quarters providing great footie in which no quarter was asked or given by either side. The main goal threat from the Bloods as usual came from their Irish contingent with Johnny McGill leading the way with 3 goals and 2 behinds. Adrian Vahey strode out of defence to get 2 goals and 3 behinds with Shane Faulkner weighing in with a goal. The other Bloods goals came courtesy of Aussies' Nick Garner, Damian Mortensen and the unbeatable ruckman John Goding. Full Match report to follow. Well done the Bloods!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edinburgh Blood Faulkner top scorer for Scottish Clansmen
Congratulations to Old Town Bloods forward Shane Faulkner who was the top scorer for the Scottish Clansmen in the Four Nations Cup in Fontanafredda, Italy. Shane, making his Scotland debut, scored one of Scotland's four goals in the 65-33 defeat against eventual winners the Croatian Knights and an outstanding six goals in the 100-24 victory over the Czech Republic. This was the Scottish Clansmen's first trip abroad under the new Euro Cup selection criteria and the experience gained here will be invaluable to the Scots for the International matches against Wales and England and the Euro Cup in October. The Bloods will be hoping that Shane takes his International form into the final two SARFL fixtures of the season against the Sharks and Dingoes before the Grand Final on September 18th.
Bloods into the Grand Final
The Bloods have qualified for the Grand Final in September with home-field advantage with 2 games to spare. The sun shone again at Duddingston and the Bloods racked up a convincing 107-15 win over the Aberdeen Dingoes. The game was marred by a nasty wrist injury to departing Dingo Campbell Paterson. The game was delayed for 40 minutes to allow the ambulance to attend to Cambo and all the Bloods wish him a speedy recovery. Top scorer for the Bloods was Shane Faulkner with 3 goals and 2 behinds. Special mention should go to young Leo Bargery who played superbly and scored in his debut at the sport.

The Bloods visited the Sharks on Saturday 5th June and had a magnificent 125-40 win. Again it was the Irish contingent that dominated the scoring with Johnny McGill grabbing 3 goals and 4 behinds, Shane Faulkner 3.1, Brendan Fleming 2.3 and Adrian Vahey 2.1. Aussies Travis and George Marshall dominated the midfield with the former getting 3 goals and the latter getting a goal and Best On Ground. Next up is the Dingoes at home on Saturday 19th June.
Bloods thrash the Sharks............twice
The Bloods took the Sharks apart with ease at Duddingston today in both the 1st and 2nd team fixtures. In the first game the Bloods were on fire from the start and never gave the Sharks a chance to settle and dominated each quarter. There were some great performances all over the field but it was the Irish lads that did the most damage with Shane Faulkner leading the way with 3 goals and 3 behinds, Johhny McGill, 2 goals and 3 behinds and Brendan Fleming with 2 goals and surprisingly only 1 behind. The final score was 15.14.104 to 5.1.41
In the second game the stars of the show were Henry Donkin with 4 goals and young Andrew Presly who grabbed 4 goals and 4 behinds in his first run out for the Bloods. The final score in the second game was 14.22.106 to 7.3.45

Bloods take on Stew Mel
The Bloods helped Edinburgh school Stewart's Melville take their first steps towards having an official Aussie Rules team by having a bounce game in the Meadows on Saturday 24th April. With three Stew Mel boys, Tom Exton, Manny Masson and Angus 'Gubby' MacIntosh already playing in the Bloods ranks, they were keen to involve more of their school mates in the sport and have set up their own team. Bloods skipper Alan ' Sparro' McSparron rolled back the years to join forces with the Stew Mel lads to give them a bit of guidance and to even up the numbers. An 8-a-side game was played in the glorious Edinburgh sunshine and there were some great skills on show, with the boys picking the game up very quickly and the were certainly not shy in the tackle. Of the lads new to the sport Andrew Presly and Leo Bargery certainly deserve a mention and despite going down 96-92, Stew Mel can look forward with a lot of condfidence to a much anticipated clash with Edinburgh rivals George Watson's, who have also started a team.
